Drawing and painting course (basic)

For whom?
The basic course is for those who would like to develop their creative skills. Or you are already busy with drawing and/or painting, and if you are open to further developing their own style.

Where?
10 drawing and painting lessons of 3 hours per week. I have room for 10 enthusiastic participants at my studio in Talara. 

What are we going to do?
Everyone can draw, so also paint! The most important starting point for me during the course is 'from the head into the heart'. 

And how do you do that?
By not being in our left brain, because that is where we are most of the day; Thinking, keeping control, ticking off lists, worrying and many more recognizable functions. In the right brain, that is where the magic of our feelings, fantasy, seeing images, 'knows no time', non-verbally lies. Mmmm that sounds good, doesn't it. Besides being able to draw what you see, your creative ability, ‘thinking out of the box’ will also grow. Developing the abilities of the right hemisphere often creates more balance in the brain. And everyone can learn this!

Your own ‘signature’
The entire course we will work from the right brain, and we will always go there playfully with a lot of fun. I have a range of very cool exercises where we start with drawing from observation, and you will learn various techniques to ‘really look’ and to let go so that your own signature comes to life. Then we will learn to recognize compositions, and to mix the most beautiful colors to further develop your painting skills and create authentic art.

Whether you want to depict a vase of flowers, a portrait, animals, nude, or abstract, or have no plan at all. It doesn’t matter. You or we decide what you are going to do. I will guide you during your proces.

Fun!
Being creative with a lot of fun is the main thing, and in addition I will teach you many skills, methods and techniques. And everything about materials, and mixing colors. After the course you will have enough input that you can continue with your creative expressions at home without getting stuck.

What you’ll learn at the 10-week program:

1. The left and right brain
   Art and what are your inspirations.
   Blind drawing exercises, and working with various drawing materials.

2. Authenticity, and your own signature
   Your inspiration, desire & color board.
   Experimenting with exercises to get loose, and seeing and drawing edges with various materials.

3. Design & values
   We are going to play with our values.
   We are going to look at design, light and dark, contrast and the differences between them. Seeing and drawing spaces with various materials.

4. Composition
   We are going to look at arranging visual elements. And we are going to process that in our own work. Seeing and drawing proportions with various drawing materials.

5. Colors
   Color theory, warm and cool colors, complementary colors. Mixing colors with 3 primary colors. Painting with your color palette.

6. Black and white
   And everything in between. We are going to learn to see shades and paint with them. Seeing and painting light and dark.

7. Mixing colors
   You are going to work on your most beautiful color palette, and make notes of it in your workbook.

8. Warm and cool colours
   We learn to mix colours with cool primary colours. And warm colours with warm primary colours.

9. The process
   You will learn more about the process of making art, your themes, the progression, the loosening up, making multiple works at the same time.

10. Open studio
    We will look at each other's works and evaluate each of their processes. And you will learn 10 more secrets to continue, and how to continue to develop your creativity.

    Start: Thursday 24th of april 17.00 - 20.00 p.m.
    
    Costs: 30,- euros per lesson, per person of 3 hours. You sign up for 10 lessons.
    Including all materials. You will receive a notebook to do all the exercises of the lessons and you can make notes of your process for yourself. The use of paper, materials, paint, etc. are included. Materials such as canvases and frames etc. are excluded.

The past few months I have enjoyed the drawing and painting course with professional Nicole Post. "From the head into the heart" was the title of the basic drawing and painting course. Sounds simple, but for me it was quite a challenge. Through fun exercises my right brain (the heart) was increasingly activated in a playful way and my left brain (the head) was increasingly pushed into the background. And with fun new insights and new angles as a result! And this in addition to the pride in the small paintings that I have made myself. The course is recommended for everyone. Even if you already work a lot from your right brain. Each lesson starts with a short theoretical explanation about the history of art. This has taught me to look at the coast in a different way and to understand and recognize the paintings and the painter better. After the history there are very fun small exercises, with the aim of: working from your right brain, learning new skills and knowledge; what about light and dark, how are the compositions put together, how do colors relate to each other. Just fun to know more about this and experiment with it. And to conclude the lesson, making your own painting on canvas or paper. And each time again being positively amazed by the beautiful and surprising result.

The course is followed together with 8 other ladies who inspire each other and there is a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. Nothing is wrong, it remains a personal creation with each his own signature. Beginner or advanced, it does not matter. The lessons are educational for everyone and are customized. Nicole is a real professional. She has a lot of knowledge and experience, gives expert advice and has a relaxed and pleasant way of teaching. The course is truly an enrichment.
